Jay Miller - Wine Advocate
Dr. Pirie calls the 2006 Estelle “an upscale
Edelzwicker,” composed of 50% Riesling, 30% Gewurztraminer,
and 20% Pinot Gris. It offers a spicy nose with floral and tropical
notes followed by a ripe, crisp, intensely flavored wine with excellent
balance and length. It will drink well over the next 2-3 years.
Andrew Pirie was Australia’s first Ph.D. in Viticulture and
a pioneer in Tasmania vineyards and winemaking.
